The Dr. Campbell House and Museum

 

The Campbell/Walker home, built in1849 by Dr. Abiel Kennedy, was left to the Warren Historical Society in 1983. Its many rooms, sheds, and garage showcase the society's collection
of furniture, pictures and paintings, farm equipment, displays of Warren's industries, etc. Please contact the society to arrange a tour or visit.

Society members hold most meetings at the house, 7:00 p.m., the first Tuesday of each month, June to December. Other community groups may arrange to meet at the Dr. Campbell House. Please contact us.

Walker/Campbell House History

 

The Walker/Campbell House is a modification of Federal style. It has a square-pitched gable roof and hints of Italianate and Greek Revival features.

  • 1849--land, part of the John H. Counce estate, was deeded to daughter Eliza A. Kennedy.
  • 1849--House built for Dr. Abel Kennedy and Eliza A. Kennedy. Dr. Kennedy began his medical practice in 1829, continuing until his death in 1861.
  • House passed through several owners.
  • 1893--Purchased by George Walker, Superintendent of the Georges Woolen Mill.
  • 1914--George and Belle Walker deeded the home to their daughter Grace Campbell.
  • 1983--Dr. Fred G. Campbell left the home to the Warren Historical Society.
